Over the past 5 years, the Solution Extensions provided by SAP platinum partner, BlackLine, have helped customers achieve more automation in their critical financial closing processes. SAP Account Substantiation and Automation, by BlackLine, as well as SAP Intercompany Governance, by BlackLine have been adopted by companies in all industries around the world.

For each solution extension in the SAP portfolio, SAP performs an annual premium qualification (PQ) – an extensive testing program which ensures the quality of the entire integration scenario from the initial data extraction from S/4HANA Cloud to the functional business use cases performed in the partner solution. In this way, PQ goes beyond SAP Certified Integration, and following the successful PQ, the integration technology becomes an integral part of the SAP product, with SAP taking on a support obligation.

The most recent PQ tested the integration between an SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition system and the BlackLine Cloud, specifically for the use cases of account reconciliation and transaction matching. Since upgradeability and swift access to innovations are key elements of SAP’s Public Cloud solutions, rather than embedding the selection logic in the S/4HANA Cloud code, BlackLine created an application based on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) to host the logic. Here, in this BlackLine-managed application, each customer has a sub-tenant where their specific selection logic is stored, as customer-specific versions of standard SAP CDS views. This BTP application then communicates directly with the BlackLine Cloud.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition customers, as well as implementation partners, will have visibility into these BlackLine integration scenarios via SAP’s Digital Discovery tools, where they will find specific scope items that include scenario documentation and test scripts to accelerate adoption.
