About the Team

Therese Tucker

Founder and Co-CEO

Therese founded BlackLine in 2001. She designed the first offerings of BlackLine’s products, engineered its transition to the cloud in 2007, led the Company through its IPO in 2016 and directed the organization in automating the financial close process via the company’s flagship Finance Controls and Automation Platform. Under her direction, BlackLine experienced strong growth since its inception. Previously, Therese served as Chief Technology Officer for SunGard Treasury Systems. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Illinois.

Owen Ryan

Co-CEO and Chairman of the Board

Owen has served as a member of the BlackLine Board since August 2018, and as Chair since January 2023. From 2018 to 2022, Owen worked for Geller & Company and Geller Advisors in several roles, including Chief Executive Officer, Managing Principal and Chief Strategy Officer. In 2016 and 2017, Owen served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of AEGIS Insurance, a mutual insurance company. Prior to joining AEGIS, Owen worked at Deloitte from 1985 until 2016 where he was the CEO and Managing Partner of Deloitte Advisory from 2008. He holds a B.S. from New Jersey City University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University, and is a certified public accountant.

Chief Financial Officer

Mark ensures BlackLine’s finance organization continues to drive growth, capitalizing on the rising demand worldwide for software solutions that generate greater efficiency, financial governance and risk management across all financial operations.

Previously, Mark served as CFO at global Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company Fiberlink Communications, and at Headhunter.net (now Careerbuilder.com), helping lead its IPO. He holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

In addition to leading BlackLine’s worldwide sales organization, Mark oversees BlackLine K.K., the company’s subsidiary in Japan, as well as BlackLine’s partner channel, including the company’s global reseller agreement with SAP. A seasoned sales executive in the enterprise software industry, Mark has more than 35 years of experience with leading cloud and financial and professional services companies including NetSuite, Oracle, Hyperion, Capgemini and Citicorp.

He came to BlackLine in 2018 from NetSuite where he most recently served as vice president for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), overseeing sales and operations in the region for the global cloud ERP and accounting software leader.

Chief Legal and Administrative Officer

Karole oversees all of BlackLine’s legal functions on a global basis. She has more than 25 years of legal experience, with special expertise in corporate finance and securities matters, investor relations, internal audit, corporate development and public company governance, disclosure and compliance issues.

Prior to joining BlackLine in May 2015, Karole was Vice President of Corporate Development, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at The McClatchy Company. Karole received her law degree from the UCLA School of Law in 1987, and subsequently joined national law firm Morrison & Foerster, working on corporate securities matters.

Lisa Schreiber

Chief Customer Officer

Lisa oversees the company’s Implementation, Strategic Innovation, Customer Success, Support and Training teams.

Lisa has held a unique combination of customer support and technology leadership roles including more than 20 years of enterprise software and SaaS experience. She came to BlackLine from Forcepoint, a SaaS cybersecurity company, where she served as Chief Customer Success Officer leading a team of 500. Prior to Forcepoint, Lisa spent 10 years in management positions at Oracle following the acquisition of GoldenGate Software where she had served for six years as Senior Vice President of Technical Services and Support. Previously, she spent seven years in senior management roles at Charles Schwab.

Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh where she is invited to speak often on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) career topics for women and minorities.

Patrick Villanova

Patrick Villanova

Chief Accounting Officer

Patrick joined BlackLine in November of 2015 after an extensive career in public accounting. Patrick served as Principal Accounting Officer during the successful IPO of BlackLine's common stock in October 2016. Additionally, he helped implement the necessary processes and systems to achieve full SOX 404(b) compliance in 2018 and spearheaded the successful execution of two convertible note offerings in 2019 and 2021 totaling $1.5 billion.

During his tenure at BlackLine, Patrick has led the acquisition and financial integration efforts of three different companies, expanding BlackLine's platform to include accounts receivable automation and more robust intercompany transaction processing capabilities.

Prior to joining BlackLine, Patrick served almost 16 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in five different offices focusing on both pre-IPO readiness projects and highly acquisitive public clients. Patrick graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1999 with a dual major in Accounting & Computer Applications.

Tammy Coley

Tammy Coley

Chief Transformation Officer

Tammy is a visionary accounting leader with a deep understanding of how accounting processes intersect with modern technology. As Chief Transformation Officer, she brings that vision and experience to BlackLine’s customers as they transform their Finance & Accounting operations through the use of the company’s cloud software tools.

Formerly Executive Director, Enterprise Accounting and Internal Controls Governance at leading broadband communications company and long-time BlackLine customer Cox Communications, Tammy brings deep industry and product experience to BlackLine. Implementing a Continuous Accounting model, Tammy transformed the monthly accounting cycle at Cox generating more timely financial statements with greater consistency and accuracy, while reducing costs. Prior to Cox, Tammy began her career in public accounting with Ernst & Young. She also spent 12 years in progressive positions including controller at Sloan Financial Group.

Tammy earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an Accounting concentration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Jill Knesek

Chief Information Security Officer

Jill leads all information security programs at BlackLine, including promoting information security awareness within the company, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of clients’ data, as well as BlackLine’s internal information resources, managing incident response teams and also facilitating adherence to security industry best practices and regulatory compliance requirements.

Jill came to BlackLine in April 2022 with more than 25 years of cybersecurity experience working in both internal and customer-facing roles including serving over 15 years in CISO positions at Cheetah Digital, Mattel and BT Global Services. Previously, Jill served as a Special Agent for the FBI, assigned to the Cyber Crime Squad in the Los Angeles field office where she was the lead case agent for several high-profile cases, including the infamous Kevin Mitnick and MafiaBoy investigations. 

Jill holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University and is a licensed CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and CISM (Certified Information Security Manager

Mary Ainsworth

Chief People Officer

Mary is responsible for building, scaling, and elevating BlackLine’s global talent practices and programs as the company continues to inspire, power, and guide customers on their digital finance transformation journeys.

Mary came to BlackLine in September 2023 with more than 15 years of experience building and leading successful human resources organizations, most recently as EVP and Chief People Officer at cloud experience management pioneer and market leader Medallia. Before that, she served as EVP and Chief People Officer at CallidusCloud, the rapidly growing sales performance management leader that was acquired by SAP. Previously, Mary worked at Robert Half International where she managed strategic recruiting efforts for both public and private companies.

Mary holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Saint Mary’s College of California.
