At BlackLine, we prioritize employee health and wellness, and the past couple of years have reinforced just how important it is. Healthy teammates are happier, more engaged, and have more energy and focus.

BlackLine’s Approach to Wellness

For many people, work is a major part of our lives. It’s how (and for some employees, where) we spend much of our time, how we make money to support ourselves and our families, and often where we make friends. Because of these factors, having a fulfilling job can be good for your mental health and general wellbeing. At BlackLine, we believe supporting employee wellness and providing a healthy workplace allows our people to thrive.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says, “a healthy workplace can be described as one where workers and managers actively contribute to the working environment by promoting and protecting the health, safety, and well-being of all employees.” BlackLine is proud to support wellness for employees around the world and provide a workplace that treats everyone with respect and empathy.

My boss leads with empathy in everything he does. Coming from Investment Banking, my experience at BlackLine has not only transformed how I collaborate with others, but it has even made me a better person outside of the office. It’s really been that profound. Company leadership demonstrates empathy, too, as evidenced by a recent company-wide discussion with our CEO [Marc Huffman] and Chief People Officer [Susan Otto] about the crisis in Ukraine. I am so grateful for this company—joining BlackLine was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Mental & Physical Wellness

At BlackLine, we know it’s essential to prioritize mental and physical wellness. Especially when it comes to mental health, the stigmas of the past have no place in our organization. Everyone encounters challenges, and as a company, we strive to provide the support our staff needs, through learning and health resources, trusted channels to discuss personal or environmental challenges, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that provides confidential support for questions about handling stress, managing money, parenting and childcare, or health issues.

BlackLine’s comprehensive healthcare and wellness package means that employees have the resources to take charge of their physical and mental health. Employees are also encouraged to take advantage of additional wellness services, such as our subsidized ClassPass program that offers various services to support a holistic well-being journey.

And of course, everybody loves a good vacation/staycation. Time off to recharge is important, which is why we offer competitive time off and paid holidays.

Financial Wellness

It’s important that we provide employees with the opportunity to secure their financial future and gain knowledge while they’re helping to make BlackLine great.

We offer competitive retirement and compensation plans globally. BlackLine strives to maintain a pay for performance compensation program that is appropriately balanced to attract, motivate, reward, and retain our most important asset—our people.

For career and personal development, we provide a wide range of learning opportunities including training on skills and topics selected by the employee community, access to an extensive on-demand library, attendance at industry conferences and seminars, and on the job training.

Community & DEI

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are deeply rooted in our culture. We empower employees to think, create, and serve in a workplace that is diverse and equitable, where everyone truly feels they belong. We are committed to providing an environment that is safe, inclusive, equitable, accepting, and supportive for all.

Our employee resource groups (ERGs) are open to all employees and support our diversity, equity, and inclusion goals. Our ERGs include women, people of color, LGBTQ+, and veterans, all of which promote inclusion, belonging, and innovation. BlackLine’s employee resource groups help us build deeper connections, live our values, and support growth across our communities.

BlackLine’s physical and mental health services programs promote health and wellbeing among our employees. We also promote health and wellbeing in the communities where we operate through contributions to organizations such as LA Community Food Bank, the Midnight Mission, and West LA Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

A Culture of Wellness at BlackLine

Through ongoing employee development, competitive compensation, and exceptional benefits, plus a focus on health, safety, and employee wellbeing, we strive to cultivate an environment where employees can do their best work.

And don’t just take our word for it! We’re proud that the Los Angeles Business Journal included BlackLine in its “Best Places to Work in Los Angeles” list in 2016, 2017, and 2020. And this year, BlackLine’s Chief People Officer Susan Otto was invited to speak at the Wellbeing at Work Summit to discuss Engagement and Retention—Winning Strategies for Attracting and Retaining Top Talent When Health and Wellbeing are a Top Priority.

If BlackLine sounds like a place you’d love to work, we encourage you to view our open positions. We offer career opportunities in our global offices, fully remote options, and hybrid roles to fit your career goals.
