Therese Tucker - Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board
Therese Tucker is CEO and Chairman of BlackLine Systems. She founded the company in 2001, with a vision to develop superior software solutions for finance and accounting professionals, focused on account reconciliations.
Prior to founding BlackLine, Therese Tucker served as Chief Technology Officer for SunGard Treasury Systems. A software developer at heart, Tucker designed and executed the first modules of BlackLine’s suite of products starting in 2002. She envisioned and engineered BlackLine’s transition to the cloud beginning in 2007, and remains committed to ensuring the company continues to deliver leading edge products.
Under Tucker’s direction, BlackLine has experienced double digit growth since 2004 and is recognized as the standard of excellence in the industry. Therese Tucker and BlackLine have been widely recognized as important innovators. BlackLine recently was named one of the ‘most innovative and promising’ tech ventures in the world by Red Herring as a Global 100 Winner. Therese Tucker was selected by Accounting Today as one of ’10 To Watch’ in the accounting profession, and received the Stevie American Business Award for Software Executive of the Year for 2011.
Therese Tucker holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Illinois.
Greg Pond - Executive Vice President
Greg Pond leads strategic planning and integration efforts in support of BlackLine’s growth initiatives.
Pond provides BlackLine and its customers with the benefit of nearly 40 years of operational and management experience as founder and CEO of software companies focused on corporate treasury and financial services functions, and then as a senior executive and Group CEO at SunGard Data Systems. Earlier in his career, Pond served in several capacities at Computer Sciences Corporation.
Mario Spanicciati - Executive Vice President/Executive Director EMEA
Mario Spanicciati joined BlackLine early in 2004, and since then has served a critical role in the development, growth, and success of the Company.
Spanicciati oversees BlackLine’s operations, including information technology, support services, information security, strategic partnering, and business development. He also directly manages the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) division, leading the expansion of BlackLine’s international operations.
Prior to joining BlackLine, Spanicciati was a manager with Merrill Lynch Private Banking and Investment Group. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University.
Charles Best, CPA - Chief Financial Officer
Charles Best is Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, Best plays a key role in BlackLine’s growth strategy, leading initiatives to enhance internal controls, improve processes, establish international operations, and executing efforts focused on improving operating efficiencies.
Best is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 20 years of experience as a finance and operational executive specializing in helping companies scale and grow their businesses. Prior to joining BlackLine, Charles served as CFO for Interlink Electronics and BioSource International.
Best holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University.
Chris Murphy - Chief Revenue Officer
Chris Murphy is Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) at Blackline Systems. As CRO, Murphy is responsible for integrating and aligning all of the revenue-generating areas of Blackline; with the ultimate goal of driving and growing the company’s revenue.
Murphy brings a wealth of knowledge to Blackline as evidenced in his 10 years of experience with Infor Global Solutions (Infor). At Infor, Murphy served as Senior Vice President of Global Financial Solutions. He played an instrumental role as Infor grew from $130 million to nearly $3 billion in sales during his tenure with the company. He also led a global business unit which represented over 20,000 customers with implementations in over 150 countries. Within less than five years, Infor became the third largest application software company in the world.
Prior to Infor, Murphy spent 15 years in various sales, channel, business development, marketing and finance positions in other leading growth-oriented technology companies including Platinum Technology, divine, Information Resources Inc. and Melita International.
Murphy holds a Master of Business Administration from DePaul University, a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in French from the University of South Carolina.
David Downing - Chief Marketing Officer
David Downing is BlackLine’s Chief Marketing Officer. As CMO, he is responsible for driving BlackLine’s global marketing strategy as it seeks to capitalize on the growing worldwide demand for solutions that drive greater efficiency, financial governance and risk management across the spectrum of financial operations.
Downing brings more than 30 years of enterprise technology marketing experience to BlackLine, much of it in similar roles for some of the industry’s leading companies. He has had particularly deep experience and success in enterprise software with a special focus around ERP, platform infrastructure and cloud applications.
Downing previously spent five years at NetSuite, most recently as senior vice president and CMO where he helped the company re-brand and re-tool to drive a major, multi-year initiative to scale up market, expanding from serving the ERP needs of SMB’s to large global enterprises. Downing spent the previous 25 years in various senior marketing roles with other leading companies, including SAP, Informatica, Oracle, Adobe, Seagate and Hill and Knowlton.
Downing holds a Bachelor’s degree from Boston University.
Trish Burr - Vice President of Operations
Trish Burr is Vice President for Operations at BlackLine, providing overall direction and guidance for multiple functional areas, including human resources and employee satisfaction, facilities and internal systems, business planning, and organizational policy implementation.
Burr previously served as BlackLine’s Director of Human Resources. Prior to joining BlackLine early in 2011, Burr was a key contributor to NetZero, a company she helped launch in 1996. She began her career over 20 years ago in the field of financial management with software security pioneer Vault Corporation. Since then, she has held various roles at Bankers Trust in the Municipal Bond division, with Brokers Investment Corporation as Director of Operations, and as General Manager of insurance subrogation firm Locke & Lambert. In 2000, she joined Westlake Venture Partners which has provided funding for over 14 technology startups.
Dominick DiPaolo, CPA - Vice President of Global Sales
Dominick DiPaolo is responsible for leading BlackLine’s global sales, customer success, and partner channel teams.
A software sales veteran, before joining BlackLine in 2008, DiPaolo served at Oracle as Product Marketing Director in the Enterprise Performance Management Global Business Unit. Earlier in his career, he served as both a Senior Solutions Consultant and Senior Product Marketing Manager at Hyperion Solutions and Paisley Consulting. DiPaolo also is a Certified Public Accountant, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New Jersey State Society of CPAs, Institute of Management Accountants, and the Financial Executives Institute.
DiPaolo holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Pace University and an MBA from the University of Miami.
Max Solonski - Director of Information Security
Max Solonski manages all information security programs for BlackLine, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of clients’ data, and ensuring strict adherence to security best practices and regulatory requirements.
Prior to joining BlackLine in early 2012, Solonski managed information security and regulatory compliance for Mattel, where he was responsible for developing the company’s information security program, managing security operations and incident response teams, safeguarding intellectual property and personal information, and protecting the company’s websites and applications. Prior to Mattel, at Westfield Properties, Solonski served as global security officer, managing information security, infrastructure operations, and disaster recovery programs. Max has also held information security positions with entertainment industry leaders Warner Bros. and The Walt Disney Company, where he focused on security architecture and application security.
Max is a Certified Information’s Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and member of ISACA, IEEE, and other technology governance associations.
