Job Summary

BlackLine is looking for a talented Architect to drive our company's SaaS products architecture. You will play a strategic role in designing key components of the Blackline application stack and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of financial applications, systems architecture, software development and cloud computing (ideally Microsoft Azure). You should have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills to effectively share your knowledge.

 

Roles and Responsibility

  • Determine business-driven product needs in collaboration with Product Management
  • Leverage strong understanding of application design patterns and solution reference architectures
  • Own target state of product architecture and a technology roadmap based on functional and non-functional requirements. Develop technical documentation
  • Determines benefits/costs and means of measuring these to support business case
  • Optimize product architectures for security, performance, and scalability to increase capacity & throughput by one or two orders of magnitude.
  • Design product architecture to support full fault tolerance and disaster recovery for 100% availability
  • Architect major aspects of the systems from front- to back-end and interfaces between multiple products
  • Work collaboratively across the company to design, communicate and further assist with adoption of architecture and coding standards, best practices, and architectural plans.
  • Provide technical leadership to the Engineering and Cloud teams
  • Participate in the architecture governance process
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes while keeping in mind the business strategy, short- and long-term roadmap to accelerate product innovation
  • Inspire a forward-thinking team of developers, acting as an agent of change and evangelist for a quality-first culture within the organization.
  • Mentor and coach key technical staff and guide them to solutions on complex design issues.
  • Proactively identify issues, bottlenecks, gaps, or other areas of concern or opportunity and work to either directly affect change, or advocate for that change.
  • Perform critical release support activities, including occasional off-hours support.

 

Required Qualifications

Years of Experience in Related Field:

15+ years of hands-on experience in architecture, design and development of enterprise applications and systems integration

Education: BS in Computer Science or a related field.

 

Technical/Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in design and implementation of mission-critical financial systems
  • Knowledge of architecture and design patterns and the ability to apply them
  • Experience with modern microservices architecture
  • Experience designing Customer facing APIs for data ingestion and export.
  • Highly proficient in programming languages, such as C#/.NET, Java, SQL
  • Strong experience in transactional databases design and implementation
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing technologies
  • Strong expertise in translating business strategies into technical, strategic and execution plans
  • Positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality work.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud designs to management and other development partners.

  • Extensive experience working with Azure (Preferred), AWS or GCP
