Unfortunately, some software vendors do not have the best reputations. Many are known to say or do anything to get a client to sign a contract, and the true capabilities of their products only come to light during implementation. Oftentimes, unexpected consulting fees, management fees and upgrade fees abound. BlackLine has experienced this firsthand and so have our clients.
We’ve heard the same story from clients many times over. When trying to implement all the promised features of another vendor’s product, they are told that it will be “in the next version” or require “at least three days of consulting services” or the feature just isn’t there at all – it is the dreaded “vaporware” (also known as demo-ware). Unfortunately many companies find themselves sifting through their inboxes looking for the written emails from vendors concerning certain features. It is a very frustrating experience!
