Prior to founding BlackLine Systems, Therese was the Chief Technology Officer of SunGard Treasury Systems. In this role, Therese headed up Product and Development for SunGard’s five corporate treasury systems, managing over 200 people in six locations in four countries. Therese also staffed and managed SunGard’s eTreasury development, created an XML standard for treasury, and met with Treasurers of Fortune 100 companies to communicate corporate vision as it pertained to the use of technology. Prior to her role as Chief Technology Officer, Therese had been head of development of the Global Trader system, an institutional trading and portfolio management system acquired by SunGard in 1997. Outside of her career with SunGard, Therese developed Tax Answer Scenarios, a tax planning software product that has been marketed to over 1,000 tax preparers and CPA’s annually since 1998. Tax Answer Scenarios is the Recipient of Accounting Today’s Top 100 Software Products Award. Therese has a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from University of Illinois.
Greg Pond, Executive Vice President
Greg Pond brings nearly 40 years of operational and management experience in the software and financial services industries. Greg began his career as a programmer with various computer software companies. In 1975, he joined Wismer Associates, a start-up focusing on treasury systems. Four years later, he left to start his own business, ADS Associates, to focus on similar areas of need in the corporate treasury and financial services sectors. Greg built ADS over a period of 18 years into what became a major international player in the market for computer systems for banks, brokerage houses and Fortune 500 companies. Over time, Greg oversaw operations for ADS from offices in the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. In 1997, ADS was purchased by SunGard Data Systems (now just SUNGARD), a significant player in all of the markets that ADS served. While with SunGard, Greg completed the acquisition of several other businesses globally, for which he retained operational responsibility in his capacity as Group CEO.
Mario Spanicciati, Executive Vice President of Operations
Mario joined BlackLine from the Merrill Lynch Private Banking and Investment Group in 2004. At Merrill Lynch, he worked as an analyst on a team of private banking advisors with over $3 Billion under management. He was responsible for re-engineering workflow and processes associated with client reporting, compliance, presentation management, and systems implementation. He was also responsible for performing research and due diligence related to investments through third-party money managers including hedge funds. Mario has lead the implementations of BlackLine’s software at companies like Chrysler, HealthSouth, BellSouth and eBay. Mario previously worked at J.P. Morgan Partners where he performed analysis and valuation of a private equity fund of funds portfolio valued at over $12 Billion. Mario received his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University.
Jeff Adler, CPA, Vice President
Jeff Adler joined BlackLine in 2006 as our Vice President and Product Expert. Jeff’s career includes 6 years on the audit staff at PricewaterhouseCoopers and over 30 years of controllership, financial anagement and consulting experience for both privately held and publicly traded companies. Jeff was the Controller-Treasurer for a Seligman & Associates, a publicly traded multi-state real-estate developer. He was also the Manager of Financial Reporting for Total Petroleum, Inc., a publicly traded French owned oil company that was primarily a refiner and marketer. Jeff also served as CFO-Treasurer-Controller for a medium-sized, privately held recycling company, Automated Recycling, that eventually was sold to Waste Management. He was also a District Controller for Waste Management, overseeing annual revenues of $600 million and supervising 14 division controllers. Jeff also has been an independent financial consultant working with a diverse client base providing assistance with systems implementation, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and establishment of managerial accounting procedures and information gathering.
Dominick DiPaolo, CPA, Vice President of Global Sales
Dominick was Product Marketing Director at Oracle in the Enterprise Performance Management Global Business Unit, focusing on financial consolidation, financial data quality management, compliance and SEC reporting. Dominick has worked in the area of compliance and risk management at Paisley Consulting and in enterprise performance management at Hyperion Solutions as both a Senior Solutions Consultant and Senior Product Marketing Manager. He has over 20 years in the application of technology to finance, accounting, budgeting and auditing activities. Dominick is a certified public accountant, and has rich experience as an auditor, accounting manager, manager of FP&A, controller, treasurer and CFO with divisions of Philips, Sony and Sempra Energy. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Pace University and an MBA from the University of Miami’s Executive Program. Dominick is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New Jersey State Society of CPAs, Institute of Management Accountants and the Financial Executives Institute.
Deborah Doneen, Vice President of Sales Operations
Deborah was the Vice President of Sales Operations for SunGard Treasury Systems. In that role, Deborah helped to coordinate and organize the sales processes of four different domestic and international companies that were acquired by SunGard. Her responsibilities included organizing the sales process, forecasting revenue for the organization, reviewing contracts, generating and tracking the sales staff’s commission payments and doing initial revenue recognition. Prior to this role, Deborah handled different roles in sales, customer support and implementations for the ResIQ product line, a corporate treasury management software solution, for ADS Associates. Deborah has a B.S. in Animal Science from the University of California, Davis.
Howard Goldstein, Director of Marketing
From 1990 until 2004 Howard was the General Manager of a manufacturing company where his responsibilities included all aspects of sales and marketing. From 2005 to 2008, Howard worked as an independent consultant, providing marketing expertise to companies across the country. Howard has also chaired two trade associations where he was instrumental in launching a national public relations campaign that is ongoing today.
Charlie Gaulke, Vice President of Development
Charlie Gaulke graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles with degrees in both Computer Science and Astrophysics. While employed in the aerospace industry, she acquired her Six-Sigma specialist certification by learning the techniques of maximizing productivity through process improvement. Charlie joined BlackLine in January 2006 as a multifaceted Director of Product Development and Implementations.
David Adler, Director of Implementations
With over 10 years of experience in infrastructure technology and support services, David brings a multitude of talents to the BlackLine team. David began his career implementing financial systems for the Solomon application, as well as integrating customized functionality. At Advogent (formerly Cardinal Health – HMS,) as the Senior IT Manager, David managed the transition and implementation of the infrastructure technology, as well as support services. Since joining BlackLine Systems, David has led implementations ranging from 5 users to 1000+ users. David works closely with clients from pre-implementation planning all the way through Go-Live. David currently resides in Philadelphia.
Donna McCollum, Director of Quality Assurance
Donna was the Manager of Financial Technology at SunGard Treasury Systems. In that role she helped to specify, deploy and support a secure payment and messaging system that interfaced with multiple Treasury Systems using an XML standard. The messaging system enabled clients to interface with many international banks directly from their treasury workstations. Prior to this role Donna was responsible for the quality assurance and the implementation of institutional trading software that handled fixed income, foreign exchange and derivatives. Donna has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the College of William and Mary and a Masters in Math and Computer Science Education from Columbia University.
Kelly Darren, CPA, Director of Support Services
Kelly joined BlackLine Systems as a Solutions Consultant and, with a passion for helping clients, moved to her current position. Kelly has over 15 years of accounting experience which includes both public accounting and private industry. She started her career in audit at Deloitte & Touche, LLP. After being certified, Kelly transitioned into private industry, working for several large companies. She was Financial Manager at Chrysler, Controller at Takata and CFO at Armstrong-White. Kelly is experienced with project implementations and Six Sigma process improvements. She has shared her accounting expertise as a Professor of Accountancy for over 10 years, teaching masters-level accounting courses at Walsh College.
