Dennis Chookaszian
Dennis Chookaszian

Mr. Chookaszian is the chairman of FASAC (Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council) which provides guidance to the FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board) on accounting matters. He is also a member of the FCAG (Financial Crisis Advisory Group) which is the international commission that was created to develop recommendations to solve the financial reporting problems associated with the current economic problems.

Mr. Chookaszian served as the chairman and chief executive officer of CNA Insurance Companies from 1992 until 1999 and the chairman of the executive committee of CNA from 1999 to 2001.

Recently recognized as a 2010 Outstanding Director, Mr. Chookaszian has served as a director on the boards of 11 publicly traded corporations. He is currently a director of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the world’s largest derivatives exchange; Career Education, a private post-secondary education provider; Allscripts, a leading provider of software for the health care sector; LoopNet, an Internet-based commercial real estate listing service; InsWeb, an Internet-based insurance purchasing service; and MacDonald Dettwiler, an information services company. He also serves as a director of a number of private corporations.

Mr. Chookaszian is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and teaches courses in Corporate Governance. He also teaches a course in International Corporate Governance at Cheung Kong University in Beijing, China, and at IIPM in Delhi, India. He is also a trustee of Northwestern University, a member of the advisory board of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a member of the advisory board of Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Carla Hayn
Carla Hayn

Dr. Carla Hayn is a Professor of Accounting at UCLA Anderson School of Management and the senior associate dean of the Executive MBA and Fully Employed MBA Programs. She holds a Ph.D. in accounting and finance from the University of Michigan.

Professor Hayn’s research is in the areas of financial reporting and disclosures, effect of accounting numbers on stock prices, the economic consequences of taxes and tax reporting, mergers and acquisitions, as well as the information content of accounting information such as line-of-business reporting, special items and tax disclosures. Dr. Hayn has published numerous articles in leading accounting and finance journals. She has served as a financial consultant and an expert witness in securities litigation cases, focusing on financial reporting and disclosure issues, corporate valuation and risk assessment. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Hayn held the position of Chief Financial Analyst for the State of Florida Legislature and served as a commercial loan officer in a commercial bank.

Dr. Hayn teaches courses in financial accounting and financial statement analysis. She received a number of teaching awards, most recently the Outstanding Teaching Award in the UCLA-NUS MBA Program in 2010. In the UCLA Executive Education series, Dr. Hayn is the co-coordinator (with Professor Al Osborne) of the Directors’ Training and Certification Program. Prior to joining UCLA, she was a faculty member of the Merage School of Business at the University of California-Irvine and the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, where she held the Coopers & Lybrand fellowship in Mergers & Acquisitions.

Tom Unterman
Tom Unterman

Tom Unterman is the managing partner and founder of Rustic Canyon Partners. Prior to Rustic Canyon, Mr. Unterman had a long career as a corporate executive at Times Mirror Company and prior to that, a corporate lawyer at Morrison & Foerster LLP and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University before receiving his law degree from the University of Chicago.

In addition to Rustic Canyon portfolio companies, Mr. Unterman currently serves on the boards of the California Community Foundation, The Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, The Public Library of Science, Heal the Bay and The California Institute for the Arts and he is a member of the State of California Commission on Access to Justice. Mr. Unterman is also a member of BlackLine’s Board of Directors.
