Task Management

"We have Binders full of checklists of things that have to be done during close. Can you help us automate this process?"

Nearly two years ago, one of our clients asked us the above question. The result is BlackLine's Task Management module.

Tasks can be anything that needs to be done during the close process. Employees are assigned to each task and the tasks are given a due date relative to each period end date. For example, a task may need to be completed -20 business days before the close on a monthly basis. That task will "pop-up" in the user's to do list, dashboards, etc. as being required to be done on a monthly basis on the appropriate date.

When a task is being worked on, comments and supporting documents may be added before the task is certified as complete.

People are assigned to tasks in different roles and can certify as the Preparer of the task, Approver, Reviewer, etc. Up to five levels of approval can be assigned to a task.

Centralized task management allows manually-maintained to-do lists to go away and be replaced with dashboards with full visibility. Progress throughout the financial close can be centrally monitored.
