Journal Creation

The Journal Creation module is BlackLine's most recently released module. Multiple journal templates may be configured, with specialized validation logic that allows the creation of the journals from within BlackLine.

BlackLine's Journal Creation module eliminates errors in journals before the journal is ever posted by incorporating configurable validation rules and logic. For example, certain dates may be valid, certain cost center/company combinations may be valid only for certain templates. Journals may also be imported from Excel in order to take advantage of the powerful validation logic.

Once the journal is created, it is subject to the approval workflow and capture of electronic signatures. Journals may be created in a remote or offshore location but nonetheless approved at a central or shared services center for control. Of course, supporting documents may be attached.

After a journal has gone through the required levels of approval, it can be automatically sent to the GL or an extract file may be created for a standard journal upload process. The status of the journal posting is tracked and reported back to BlackLine.

The Journal Creation modules gives clients a centralized location from which to create, validate, document, approve, and post journals. Journals may also be tied to unmatched transactions, reconciling items, or tasks. This module helps our clients truly realize the value of an integrated financial close process.
